The Coastal Society is joining AERS to host a coastal and ocean career workshop on Thursday March 21st, 2024. TCS has hosted over 20 of these workshops since the MAD Program series launched in 2018. This will be the third workshop held in conjucntion with an AERS meeting
This event will feature personal insights from seasoned professionals on pathways to coastal-related career options in the governmental, private, and non-profit sectors. We’ll also focus on honing skills and sharing tools to boost your career – job searches, resume preparation, virtual interviews, networking, and more.

The day will begin with a lunch (provided) and networking hour to give you a chance to meet fellow participants and get settled in. The program officially begins with four talks on professional opportunities across academia, government, the private sector, and non-profits. Speakers will address the sciences, resource management, policy, and other career paths. Those insights will be helpful to students, recent graduates, and early professionals as they chart their future. The rest of the day will be spent in smaller break-out groups, each with a discussion leader selected for a specific skill such as grant writing, virtual interviews, effective networking, identifying a mentor, and more.
TCS has graciously offered to extend a $5 discount to AERS attendees when registering for this workship. Please use promo code AERSAttendee when registering to get $5 off the $25 registration. Additionally, students who are applying for AERS student travel awards may also ask for $20 to cover this event as well.
